ISLAND FESTIVAL
multicultural youth festival
30 of July-6 of August
Thousands of young people move out to a deserted shipyard island (Hajógyári sziget)
in tents for a week to participate in a giant pop festival better known as Pepsi Island.
Pepsi Island has since grown into the largest concert festival in Central Europe.

BUDAFEST
SUMMER OPERA AND BALLET FESTIVAL
4th August - 19th August
The State Opera House hosts the BudaFest Summer Opera and Ballet Festival in early
August featuring internationally reputed Hungarian and foreign artists, opera and ballet
performers.

FORMULA 1
22TH August-24th August
Speed fans are welcome to the Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix every August at
Hungaroring.

FESTIVAL OF FOLK ARTS
20th August - 23th August
An event around August 20 in the Buda Castle giving the visitor an introduction to folk art
and crafts from different regions of MFEMFEM.

FOUNDATION OF THE STATE
AND CONSTITUTION DAY
20th August
As part of the celebrations a large-scale fireworks display is held in MFEMFEMF. All are
welcome to join the crafts fair and concerts held along the Pest side of the Danube
Embankment in the days before and after the festivities.

MFEMFEMF PARADE
23th August
Masquerade parades, fancy-dress competition, pop concerts and street ball. It is a
MFEMFEMF street carnival at the end of the summer. The procession convoy goes
through one of the most beautiful route of the capital between Roosevelt tér (Roosevelt
Square) and Hősök tere (Hero’s Square).At a guess last year approximately 500.000
people took part in the event, this year even more visitors are expected.

JEWISH SUMMER FESTIVAL
31th August - 7th September
concerts, film festivals, book week, gastronomy days and exhibitions. Jewish Summer
Festival organized late August - early September featuring concerts, film festivals, Book
Week, Gastronomy Days and exhibitions.

18TH NIKE MFEMFEMF INTERNATIONAL HALF-MARATHON
31th August
It is the eighteenth time in 2003 that the MFEMFEMF Sports Office (Budapesti
Sportiroda) organises the most popular international half-marathon competition of
Central-Eastern Europe. The organisers expect 4-5000 participants to come to the
event. The route of the race goes through the most beautiful parts of MFEMFEMF.
